    A group of professors of computer science and linguistics are working to create a translation of AbiWord and create a Quechua dictionary of computer terminology.  Contact person at UNAMBA:

  • Maria Elena Pozo did the original translation of Abiword in the Southern Bolivian Quechua. She teaches Quechua in the law department at the Universidad de San Francisco Xavier de Sucre. In addition she gives private Quechua classes at any level.  To contact her:

  • Kevin Patrick Scannell is a professor of computation at Saint Louis University in Missouri, USA. He created An Crúbadán, a compiler of words for minority languages like Quechua for creating spell-checkers. He also transformed the Southern Bolivian Quechua ispell dictionary to use it with aspell.

  • Amos Batto has a MA in Latin American history from Indiana University where he studied nation-making and campesino movements in the early Bolivian republic. Currently, he is in Peru trying to promote the creation of free software in Quechua.  He created the Southern Bolivian Quechua ispell dictionary and helped with the technical aspects of the AbiWord translation.
